What are the Migraine Triggers Food and Beverages List


Have you ever felt migraine? Migraines which not solved soon would be very disruptive your activity and productivity. Migraine is a neurological problem which causes pain, nausea and sensitivity to light. These headaches can be debilitating, sometimes preceded by visual disturbances, known as aura.

There are some foods you should avoid, because these foods can trigger migraines. Below are some foods and drinks that can trigger migraines, as reported by Livestrong:

Dairy products
According SteadyHealth, dairy products contain histamine, which may be responsible for causing chemical changes that lead to migraine. Eating sour cream, yogurt or buttermilk in particular can trigger a migraine.

Tyramine
Other migraine triggers are foods that contain tyramine. Tyramine is usually a lot contained in the cheese, mozzarella or cheddar.

Meat products
Food of meat products can also cause migraines. Meat contains a lot of nitrate associated with migraine. According to experts from the University of California, Berkeley said that if you suffer from migraines it's better if you avoid hot dogs, pepperoni, sausage, sardines, ham, pickled herring, chicken liver, bologna, salami, caviar and meat that had been treated with a meat tenderizer or soy sauce .

Fruit and vegetables
Fruits associated with an increased frequency of migraine include papaya, red plums, raisins, figs, ripe avocado and banana. While the vegetables are often trigger migraines include peas, onion, garlic, green beans, olives, pickles and sauerkraut.

Yeast
Fresh yeast-containing foods also may be responsible for migraine. If you have problems with migraines you should avoid eating freshly baked bread and other baked goods, like donuts.

Beverages
Some drinks are also associated with migraine such as alcohol and red wine, because it's contain chemicals known as tannins. Caffeine is also a potential trigger, so peoples that suffer from migraines should avoid caffeine, like coffee, tea and soft drinks. Chocolate can also cause migraines.

Monosodium glutamate (MSG)
Monosodium glutamate (MSG) or MSG is a chemical additive that is often used to enhance flavor and is most often found in Chinese food and some salty snacks. This compound can also trigger migraines.
